Quotidian acts become habits over time. As kids, we have all carried heavy bags to school. With most of us this habit persists long after, the only change being that the bag is later filled with apprehension, distress, grief, fear, burden and much more. This baggage is a poignant reminder of thoughts we carry.
It’s like watching a movie, in which we see characters whom we think about. Without realizing it, we involve ourselves in the movie and start to imagine. While we know that it’s just a movie, we still feel for some characters and dislike those who play negative roles. What I am trying to say is that this is all in our minds and the capability to control our thoughts lies solely with us. I truly believe that thoughts are energy so one needs to use them wisely.
A rule of the universe says that nothing lasts forever. So when our happiness depends upon someone or something then we are bound to be disappointed sooner or later as it will never last.
Offload this baggage that you carry every day! But how?? Gift yourself an early morning meditation and a deep sleep at night. It’s not just the length but the quality of sleep that matters too. If you are able to remove any rancor from your heart towards anyone, then do so every morning and evening. Express your gifts and talents to the universe and get closer to your dreams. Speak good or remain silent. Cry when hurt but don’t carry that distress with you thereafter.
As Elie Wiesel once said “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of beauty is not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, but indifference between life and death.”
Take charge of your body, mind and soul, mind being the most powerful and focus in the moment.
